There are four cultural factors in the regard of widowed women economic burdens in Tanzania (1) there is the disproportionate number of widows compared to widowers, (2) there are economic problems faced by widows and their accentuation as a result of prevailing societal norms and values, which includes land access (3) there ae differences in response and adaptation to widowhood by relatives with limited support by policies and (4) there are more negative consequences, experienced by widowed women as compared to divorced women mainly due to community perception on how a widowed woman can be treated. We conducted the project to examine the social changes, economic consequences, and health risks associated with widowhood as the key perspective opportunities to support widowed women in Tanzania.

However, it was not easy to form one. We have been looking for some institutions to support us”.
